The Tender Blue by Pak Ning with Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens

When we came across Hong Kong based portrait photographer, Pak Ning's work on Instagram, the picture of a hand dripping in blue liquid caught our eyes. Most of the portrait photographers focus on the lovely faces while he looks into human's gestures. It is simple yet fascinating. This time he has done a photo shooting with dreamy, ethereal Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens with the theme of expressing tender blue through different gestures.

About Pak Ning

I'm Pak Ning , a portrait photographer from Hong Kong. The name of mine is quite feminine yet I'm a guy. My inspiration of shooting usually comes naturally during the period of relaxation in daily life.

On his first time using a Film Camera

I still remember the first time when I picked up a film camera from home, I shot randomly without hesitation, and I deeply tasted the joy from this experience which gradually became one of the seeds arousing my interest towards photography.

About Pak Ning's shooting style

Actually I have no idea which style of photography I belong to, however, I greatly enjoy catching models' close ups. I hope that the aesthetic of my work are not only presented through facial expressions but also the body gestures and the ambience.

On his favorite Photographer

My favorite is Kotori Kawashima.

About the Tender Blue Series with the Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens

Regarding the shoot with Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens , I tried to make the composition simple with the theme of different body gesture. Meanwhile, I also tried to look for different props such as food, books and plants, but ended up choosing paint. It is because the body line could be softly revealed when the blue paint trickle down the body. The unexpected flowing patterns also created uniqueness in my work.

On his shooting experience with the Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens

I'm fond of the unique endless bokeh effects created by the Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens . With the use of different aperture plates, you can create a the dreamy world draped in silky soft focus. Also, I preferred shooting with film camera to digital camera with this lens, although the images couldn't be checked instantly.

On his upcoming plans

I'm planning to go on a Tokyo trip before Christmas, not a rush one but hope to explore Tokyo in a slow life travel.
