Made from resistant steel, weighing 200 tonnes and based upon the artist 'Anthony Gormely's own body, stands one of England's most famous landmarks.

Unused, Locked and likely to become another block of flats. Small and sprightly this church stood for so much in it’s parish in previous years, and without it the community would be totally different. It’s just a shame it’s going to fall into disrepair!!!

  • Wigan: It Doesn't Have to Be Grim up North

Wigan: It Doesn't Have to Be Grim up North
(Please note, this article is in another language)
My hometown, Wigan, has had some bad press in its time. Most famously in 'The Road to Wigan Pier' by George Orwell. In this book, Orwell set out to highlight the immense poverty of industrial mill-towns across working-class England and he reserved his last stop and the title of his book for the worst: Wigan. I hope to show that it is no longer so.
