Close-up flowers (focal b&w version)

This is a digitally manipulated version of the original shot here: www.lomography.it/homes/buckshot/photos/16330259
I thought the original was pretty enough, but I didn't like how the colour dominated the shot, flooding the eye with pink. In this version, I applied the 'Focal B&W' filter in Picasa, and I think it results in a much more interesting picture, with much greater detail and texture revealed in the black & white areas of the image, while retaining a small area of the original colour, for warmth. Overall, I find it a much more pleasing picture.
Now, the question is, how legitimate would you consider this manipulation to be in Lomo terms? Yes, it's digitally manipulated (don't worry - I promise not to enter it in any competitions), but it is still an analogue photograph, at heart, and I'm pretty sure the focal b&w effect could be rendered through traditional darkroom techniques, somehow.
So what's your view? Is it acceptable to upload images treated like this to your Lomohome, or not? Please leave a comment to share your opinion. Thanks.

Very nice! I personnally don't care about people digitally manipulating analogue photo and posting them, as long as they mention it, which you do ;-)

I prefer the original one... and in my very personal opinion I like either a color or a BW shot but never appreciated much the mixing of both... as for the manipuation, as long as you tell it and ask opinion of the others, it can create an interesting debate here, and that's always good :)

This photo is great, but it definitely looks extremely fake and edited. Depends on what look you're going for. Great idea to ask the Lomography community!

@aanum @sweettyyydreams @sixsixty @vicuna @dearjme Thank you all for your opinions - I greatly appreciate your honesty. As I expected, this seems to be very much a 'borderline' question. Note that I would not personally advocate using any digital manipulation that vastly distorts an analogue photo, as to me that would be a definite breach of the ethos of Lomography. But the digital 'tweak' I used on this shot, in my opinion, rescued a picture that I would otherwise probably not even have uploaded to this community. dearjme is certainly correct that it looks 'edited', because it obviously is, and as vicuna says, photos are generally either colour or black & white. But if the result is a better image (in my opinion), shouldn't we be allowed to do this kind of thing and still call it Lomography...? I don't expect to get a definitive answer on this, really, but debate is good, and I look forward to seeing what other Lomographers have to add. Thanks again, all!
