In memoriam, my dear HOLGA 135BC

“Why do you spent your money just for film & scanroll, does it wasting money?” Last week when my mom went to Mecca, Saudi Arabia to do Umroh (short time hajj in Islamic pray) I get an idea to answering her question that you read at the first sentence of this paragraph =) with lending her my HOLGA 135BC. So, I ask her to take my HOLGA 135BC loaded with LOMOGRAPHY X TUNGSTEN with her to Mecca & shoot anything. I teach her how to push the shutter and spin the crank after snap. FYI, my mom is my fave photodocumenter because her family photo always bring back my good old days memories.

One week goes by. Actually when my mom goes to Mecca, I always expect some cool souvenir from there, but at this time I just wait for my HOLGA & her shoot. After she was arrived at home, I ask my HOLGA to her. [Photo:15481819]

She told me that she lost it. She left it at the bus when in Mecca. She looks very guilty and always ask me about the price, she want to give me money for buying new one. Strangely, me, five years an unemployee with terrible tantrum when my mom do something that made me angry (or when she angry first, it made me angry too), refuse my mom’s offer to give me money to buy the new one. I even didn’t angry at all.

I believe someone will look after her (holga ) who found her and adopted her . there are hundred thousand like her outhere inside the box havent seen the world yet waiting someone like us bring her out and enjoy the beautiful world but sometimes its not about the brand new its about the relationship between you and her had being together for many years , share everything and this will took a while to build a new relationship with her twin :)

Probably, your Holga has gone on to a new life with a new family!! It's time for a new camera. As you can afford, try something different. Lomography has FED 5B's still. Get one of these. Try something photographically much more powerful!!

what a great story, I also have same reaction to my mother when something goes wrong, so glad you didn't blame your mum!! hope the camera comes back!

Ah... your Holga went on to the next life... mine expired while capturing some of the Jefferson Market Garden roses in New York's Greenwich Village... yes, new cameras should be in our future... ahh, but which ones...
