Lucky me

Lucky me is a short film about one man's brief 'trip down memory lane' from a below the hip point of view. We journey with our character exploring various places and activities. We learn where he liked to go, what he liked to do and why. The hierarchy of mind and body is challenged, which play's a bigger part? Is it a 50/50 partnership? And most importantly, which is the boss?

We chose to shoot Lucky me on 35mm film, using a Lomokino analogue camera, a completely new venture for myself and directing partner. The camera and film together create a captivating frame size and a hypnotic colour scheme. The luxury of viewing digital material was removed from our day to day filming plan. We'd wait ten days to view something we weren’t even 100% sure was shot correctly. Needles to say, coming to terms with the format in which we'd chosen to film on, for us, was a short story in itself.
