The Last S-andCastle

Having spent a couple of days lazing by the pool & enjoying some relaxing downtime, we decided to take a trip to Los Cristianos. A place which was described by the Hotel's travel Rep as "the largest local market on the Island where everyone goes to get their essential bits". With the promise of a traditional style farmer market in mind we set off to Los Cristianos. The reality of the place was markedly different from the promise of local people going about their business, shopping for essential goods... unless those local goods were knock-off handbags & faux-designer t-shirts. Feeling a little disappointed with the realisation that we'd [essentially] been mislead, we took a little wonder around the area & found this fairly impressive sand sculpture. A little piece of painstaking construction which was a beautiful respite from the surrounding melee of dirty streets, run down buildings & the obnoxious British underclasses enjoying their beer fuelled slice of England in the sun (The area of Los Cristianos was awash with "British Pubs", adverts for "English TV", "Full Sky Sports packages" & "Full English breakfasts". This was quite a stark contrast to the lovely little area from which we'd come).
