Great, but how do you do that?

@adash : I've written a tipster that hopefully will be published somewhere next week. You basically ignite steel wool and spin it around, then capture it in bulb mode. Here we moved around while spinning the steel wool, so you get this kind of spiral.

Steel wool....I remember that was used for washing very dirty dishes back in the day. Is it the same thing?

@adash : Yeah, I suppose so, exactly the same stuff. You can find it in any hardware store, in different grades of thickness, for these photos you need a pretty fine grade, very thin fibres :) They actually use it in survival kits and such, very easy to ignite.

Oh, I get it, it must be very very thin in order to ignite. You aren't using any oxidizer, are you?

@adash : Nope, you just ignite a small part of the steel wool using a lighter or a 9 volt battery, and the air flow when you spin it around causes the rest to catch on fire, and you get a whole bunch of sparks flying off. It's a lot of fun to do :)

@jetnz81 - Yes, it works best with fine steel wool. You have different sizes, from very thick (3 - 2 - 1) to very fine (0 - 00 - 000). For this shot I used 00, but it also works fine with 0 and 000. And sure, try it, it's amazingly fun!
