Our vacation in Namibia, Africa. We stayed in Swartkopmunt for a few nights. Oh my this place is like a fairy tale. Then we drove to Etosha, this place is a photograph waiting to happen! There were always animals at the waterhole, day and night. Dusk was the best time when all the cute nocturnal animals started to wake up. The cutest bush babies came right up to us and interacted with us. I was very disappointed in the service, I found the accommodation was tiny and expensive and the food was horrible and they did not cater for everyone's dietary needs. What is amazing about Namibia, is whilst you are driving along the road just abut anywhere you are bound to see some wildlife. This is not so great when your tire bursts and there are baboons everywhere. That must have been the fastest we've ever changed a tire. We then went to Windhoek, just to go to Joe's Beerhouse and join the drum circle. Then we went back to our fairy tale in Swartkopmunt. This time we went out with the friends we made the first time around, one of the cooks and her girlfriend. We went to their house and I was so grateful for the opportunity to shoot this side/face of Namibia. This was also my very first time using my DianaF+ hence you can see I was still trying to figure it out.

Hey, we're going to Namibia in September and really looking forward to it. We're driving, a lot, so I hope we don't have any flat tyres - my tyre-changing skills are non-existent, and even worse when baboons are around. I've read that service can be a little, err, lacklustre, so am hoping it doesn't mar the holiday overall. I am looking forward to playing with bush babies :) So Joe's Beerhouse is really a good place to go?

@sandersoftheriver you will love it, it's magical. If you are driving you MUST have a 4x4 we had a sedan and suffered a lot! We could not drive through Etosha so much and 90% of the roads are dirt roads. If you stay in accomodation just outside of Etosha it's a lot cheaper, definitely go with self catering option. Yes Joe's is a treat! Do contact before to find out which nights they have the drumming circle, it's not everynight. Hentiesbaai next to swartkopmunt is also some eye candy. A friend of mine who does architecture photography specially went there to photograph the homes. On Instagram @youmeandmyfuji /ParisB she is currently in Japan. Xoxoxo

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, we will have a 4x4 and I think we are staying just outside Etosha. Our basic route is from Windhoek, down to Fish River Canyon, back up to Luderitz, to Sossusvlei , then to Swakopmud, to Damarlaand, Etosha and back to Windhoek, I read about Richtersveld some years ago and thought is sounded amazing son am happy to see that Fish River Canyon is in that general area. I'll make a note of Hentiesbaai and will check when we're in Windhoek for Joe's but I have no musical ability whatsoever! Like, really, nothing so will only ruin the circle! Japan - just fabulous, everything about it. Have a great weekend XX

@sandersoftheriver HI So this is a really late reply. I wanted to ask you "how was Namibia? Did you have a good time?"

Hi Zannee. Namibia was fantastic. Really one of the best holidays we've had. We didn't get to Hentiesbaai although we passed it on the way to Damaraland, but we did go to Joe's on the first night and really enjoyed it (there was no drumming circle but the food and beer were good!). We loved Fish River Canyon and Luderitz, that drive from Fish River Canyon down to the border, skirting the Orange river and up though Ais-Ais/Richtersveld to Aus and then the long flat stretch out to Luderitz is spectacular. I took a digital (gasp!) as well as a film camera but I managed to ruin a roll that I was hoping might have decent shots of Kolmanskop and Deadvlei ... The whole trip was magical and I want to go again, when this coronavirus nightmare is over. This time I'd like to fly to Jo'burg, hop on over to Botswana, take a 4x4 and see Chobe, then head up to the Caprivi Strip (and Victoria Falls), the go across to the northern Skeleton Coast. I'll let you know if that ever happens!
