  • Both sides of the daily life

    condiviso da hodachrome il 2012-06-27

Exposing both sides of the film (EBS). I shot on correct(normal) side first in a sunny/bright day, at ISO400(ISO800 film inside). Below half of the lense was masked with a splitzer. After finished a roll, reverse the film (in a dark-room). Then start shooting on redscale side in a cloudy/rainy day, at ISO200. Upper half was masked with a splitzer. The order of each location is precisely the same as 1st shots. I took notes in details about locations and shot all places with iPhone, to remember locations. Need patience, concentration, and accuracy for this challenge. Plus must be careful with 'gaps' between frames. This one is almost perfect. Have a look at my article about this technique: http://www.lomography.com/magazine/tipster/2013/01/14/tipster-how-to-take-symmetrical-images-with-exposing-both-sides-of-the-film-ebs

I can't quite compete with @hodachrome yet, but hey, the dude's on a whole 'nother level ;-). This was my second 'exposing both sides' (EBS) test roll. The black line through the middle is because the black card I taped as a mask in the back of the camera (instead of using a Splitzer) was a bit too big. Otherwise, though, it turned out pretty good, and I can't wait to go do it again...!

I love the light and texture of this building - one day I'll have to go back with my Lubitel 166B and try to do it justice.

    condiviso da buckshot il 2012-11-02

I shot this while driving down a country road, one hand on the wheel, one hand on the shutter release. Am tempted to do a whole album like this...! Hell, we're lomographers - we live life on the edge ;-) Second go with my 'Sparklesprocks' effect. Technique explained in the final shot in this album.

    condiviso da buckshot il 2012-11-02

How this album was made: First exposure was of the sparkly artshop cards shown here, cut and glued into an abstract shape. (It was actually just a random composition, but my daughter said it looked like a keyhole, so I rolled with that...). The whole roll was shot close up so the composition filled the frame, and the cards were placed in direct sunshine to enhance the sparkles. The second layer was then the random subjects you see in the album. Both exposures were taken with the exposure compensation on my trusty Pentax P50 (seen here) set to -1 (i.e. one stop underexposed). My first go with this sparkle effect, if you're interested, is available here: http://www.lomography.com/homes/buckshot/albums/1897290-sparklesprocks And the sprocket holes...? Well, they're the result of a homemade mask placed inside the camera, as first deomonstrated in my album here: http://www.lomography.com/homes/buckshot/albums/1889661-introducing-bucksprock-400-film Thanks for reading (and looking, and liking!) ;-)

I have been here so many times before, but I never get tired of seeing Calatrava's creations and taking pictures of it. That was my 1st ever try of Lomography CN 800 ISO film and I couldn't be more happy with it. Since this marvelous sunset above the City of Arts and Science, shooting during the golden hour of photography became a habit.
