The river city has seen better days and was a former cradle of colonialism. Today Victory Ave has too many vacant shops yet it retains outstanding architectural facades. Even the misspelling of the towns name(Wanganui)has only recently been corrected. My great-grandfather Thomas Brough ran the Railway Hotel in the 1860's so I feel a genetic link towards an under appreciated city.

By pure chance, I had the opportunity to join a guided tour of the Krenholm Manufacturing Company, which takes place on some Sundays during the summer season. We drove to Narva in the morning, which takes about two and a half hours by car, and returned in the afternoon. I was extremely hungover and sleep-deprived, so taking these photos was a real struggle, but I think the factory is truly impressive and definitely worth seeing.
