I had a free day and decided I will walk a lot - it turned out to be a marathon. I strated in North Hollywood, at the corner of the old Lomo Store, at Santa Monica Boulevard. I traversed through Melrose and then went all the way up to Bel Air and Beverly Hills and passed the Hollywood Hills. Then I really got ambitious and tried to follow the Santa Monica Boulevard to actually the beach. I knew, it's just one street, but maybe the longest one in the world. My goal was it to reach the water before sunset. After around 7 hours of walking I had to admit, I wouldn't make it in time. So I jumped the bus and made it, barely in time...

First try with the film CineStill 800T. I think it is really best fit for night or tungsten or flourescent lights setting.

Before Chicago, my journey started with a 42 hour train ride aboard Amtrak"s Southwest Chief. The train ride passed through 8 states and I spent two nights there. I also spent Thanksgiving on the train- it was a bit sad to be far from family on that day but it was nice spending it with strangers, fellow travelers and hearing their stories. I did not take as many photos as I planned coz sometimes you get caught in the moment that you simply forget. Here are some that I took.

This roll was initially shot against a curtain with me posing through all 36 shots. I then reshot it with the second camera in the yard and house without trying to line up the frames. When developed, I cropped/scanned based on what was visually cool and not based on any one frame itself.

I was curious to see what tha hell an (supposed) infrared B&W film will look like without a proper orange/red filter and decided to give a go with my Canon EOS. But because it was hyper sensitive film I thought it would be a good idea to underexpose it. Well, if you are reading this, don't bother, just ditch the filters and shoot as a normal B&W you will be alright.

    condiviso da luobodingr il 2005-01-10

The Mount Tomah Botanic Garden is one part of Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens. They are located at Mt Tomah, part of “The Blue Mountains” to the west of Sydney and are specifically used for the housing of cool climate plants. These were all shot with a macro lens held over the LCA. (For details of how to do it – see my weblog of November 2004) These were shot on Ektachrome 64T and cross-processed but the colours are surprisingly real (are they trying too hard in the lab? – I don’t know). I am still getting a lot of enjoyment out of these pics!

first time shooting at 0m altitude and 320iso. Same orange filter as other times but also first time I get such green skies. This film is so unpredictable and magic! Ouessant was the perfect place to shoot it, peaceful island at the very far West of France.

Before my girlfriend left home for Budapest we arranged to take some goodbye shots. Originally the photoshoot was supposed to be taken in a wood on the top of a mountain, but it was impossible for me to reach it because of a sudden snowfall. We opted for a glade in the mountains on the opposite side of the valley but, as soon as we got there, the sun was about to set and it was way too cold to stay there longer. Eventually we ended up in the cornfields close to my place when it was already dark. I found myself forced to use a flash (which is something I'm not usually really keen on with the Lubitel). quite predictably the session quickly took a gloomy turn. not totally impressed by the outcome (some overexposed shots), however I'm really pleased with Isabel's attitude.

First time shooting with Lomography Sunset Strip Film. I really like the grainy look, it adds a nice texture to the photos. And the warm tones make the film a good choice for outdoor portraits.
