I've always said that Photography opened my eyes to the beauty in this world, the only issue since has been finding enough film to capture it all. I currently live in the awesome city of Austin, TX, and have been taking pictures for about 2 1/2 yrs now. I can remember the exact moment that I fell head over heals for photography. We were in Venice, Italy for work, and I asked my good friend, who is a professional photographer, if I could borrow his camera to walk around with. He kindly agreed, and began showing me how to basically use it. After a quick run down, I set off to capture the wonders of Venice. I was hooked from the first moment I looked through the viewfinder and snapped my first photo! It was like a veil was lifted from my eyes. My mind seemed to summon beauty out from the shadows and lights. Lines and colors were overloading my senses but I couldn't turn it off. The camera had forever changed the way I viewed the world. From then on I wanted to learn all I could about photography. I started reading books on photography, subscribing to magazines, and completing online tutorials on editing techniques. The more I learned, the more I experimented. In February of 2010 my grandfather gave me a couple of his old analogue cameras that he had used previously for many years. I almost sold them because I shot digital up till then and saw no need for old film cameras. I decided to give it a try and bought a few rolls of film...I quickly fell in love with film. Film has a life and quality that I could never get digitally. Soon after, I met up with a friend who introduced me to the Lomo LC-A+RL. My first thought when I saw the Lomo camera was "There is no way those pictures are coming out of that little black camera"! I have now taken over 5400 pictures with it, and It is now with me at all times. My LCA allowed me to really branch out creatively. Most of my images I could never do again and I like that. It's like Christmas every time I visit the store to pick my pictures up. The excitement and anticipation almost kill me sometimes...I truly love it. Photography forces you to stop and smell the roses, but after smelling them you snap a picture of them to put on your wall for others to see and smell.------------------- www.flickr.com/photos/marshallfoster/ ---------------------- www.facebook.com/marshallf1
